Port Authority Marks Completion of New Corbin Street Ramp, Modernizing Critical Supply Chain Infrastructure at East Coast’s Busiest Seaport

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey marked the completion of a new Corbin Street ramp at Port Newark on August 27, 2026, representing a major milestone in the $220 million Port Street Corridor Improvement Project.

The project is modernizing the northern entrance to Port Newark and the Elizabeth Port Authority Marine Terminal, with the goal of improving safety, efficiency and freight movement through the region’s critical supply chain infrastructure.

The completed ramp is part of a broader interchange improvement expected to save approximately 700,000 hours of travel time during the first full year of operation and reduce crashes by more than 35 percent.

The Port Street Corridor Improvement Project includes the reconstruction of the Corbin Street Ramp, improvements to surrounding roadways and intersections, and other infrastructure upgrades designed to improve traffic flow and safety at the port complex.

The new Corbin Street Ramp provides a wider, two-lane entrance and improved turning capacity for vehicles accessing the port from the north. Additional improvements to the corridor will continue, including intersection upgrades, the reopening of Inner Port Street and reconstruction of Outer Port Street.

The broader project is expected to continue through 2028, when the remaining improvements to the Port Street corridor are scheduled for completion.
